Medical Office Specialist (Front Office)

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Office Specialist, you’ll support daily front office operations and ensure a smooth, welcoming experience for every patient.

  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls, routing as needed

  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments accurately and efficiently

  • Greet, check in, and assist patients with professionalism and warmth

  • Verify and update patient information in the medical record

  • Collect co-pays and payments (in-person and by phone)

  • Set up payment plans in accordance with organizational policies

  • Serve as a liaison between patients and clinical staff

  • Support billing team with patient files and documentation

  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned


What You Bring

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Strong computer and data entry skills

  • Ability to handle cash and perform basic math accurately

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

Preferred:

  • Experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes

  • Knowledge of Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) or Meaningful Use standards


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

  • Occasional bending, lifting, and reaching (up to 35 lbs)

  • Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (computer, phone, copier)

  • Adequate vision and hearing to perform job duties
