Van Driver / Maintenance

Position Summary

Good Neighbor Community Health Center is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Van Driver / Maintenance  to support both patient transportation and facility upkeep.

This role plays an important part in ensuring patients can access care by providing safe, timely transportation to and from clinic appointments in the Columbus area. When not driving, this position assists with general maintenance tasks to help keep our facilities clean, safe, and operating efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Transportation Duties:

  • Safely transport patients/clients to and from clinic appointments within the Columbus area in accordance with organizational policies
  • Provide courteous, respectful assistance to all passengers
  • Ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of organization vehicles
  • Transport clinic bank deposits securely and on schedule

Maintenance & Facility Support:

  • Perform routine building maintenance (interior and exterior)
  • Complete minor repairs and general upkeep tasks, including:
    • Paint touch-ups
    • Applying ice melt during winter months
    • Hanging items (e.g., signage, fixtures) as needed
    • Spot-cleaning carpets and maintaining cleanliness
  • Assist with additional facility-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid, unencumbered driver’s license
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle and follow transportation protocols
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 80 pounds

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual skills

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while driving
  • Frequent bending, lifting, stooping, and stretching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and coordination to safely operate a vehicle and perform maintenance tasks

Work Environment & Additional Information

  • This position does not supervise other employees
  • Employees are subject to applicable federal regulations, including the Hatch Act (5 USC §1502)
  • Employment is at-will
